Andy Herrmann | Andreas Herrmann - Pianist & Komponist

At the age of five, first improvisations on the piano.

Since the age of twelve, first guitarist then later keyboardist in various rock and jazz bands.

 

1985 Winner of the state competition “Jugend Jazzt” in Baden Württemberg Germany

1986-1990 Piano studies at the “Swiss Jazz School” in Bern with Joe Haider

1988 in the semifinals of the renowned international “Thelonious Monk” piano competition in Washington D.C.

1990-1999 Pianist in the quartet of the American jazz saxophonist “Robin Kenyatta” with Reggie Johnson on double bass, among others. Numerous concerts in Switzerland, Germany, France and England.

Since 1994 Lecturer at the Lucerne Jazz School

1995-2000 Composition studies at the “state music college” in Freiburg im Breisgau, majoring in composition and music theory with Prof. Cornelius Schwer.

2001 Musical director, arranger, composer and pianist of the musical “Lila Rosen” in Zurich with singer and actress Sue Mathis

2004-2005 Head of Department a.i. the department of music theory / composition at the Lucerne School of Music

2004-2012 Lecturer at the “International Music College” Freiburg im Breisgau

Since 2008 Pianist and keyboard player in the band of the jazz violinist “Zipflo Reinhardt”

Seit 2009 Professor at the Lucerne School of Music

2010 Nomination for the New German Jazz Prize with the Andy Herrmann Trio

Seit 2012 Concerts with the “Anne Czichowsky Quintet” and the “Axel Kühn Trio”

2013-2014 Pianist in the “Christian Elsässer Orchestra” (CEO) in Munich

2014-2020 in the jury of the international jazz piano competition of the Lucerne School of Music in Langnau i.E.

2015 foundation of the Andy Herrmann Quartet with the debut album “The Child In Me” (Norbert Scholly Git, Arne Huber Bass, Fabian Rösch Drums) which was followed by the album “Sincerity” (Mike Moreno Git, Arne Huber Bass, Jochen Rückert Drums) in 2023.
