Andy Herrmann Trio

In his trio, jazz pianist Andy Herrmann, who lives near Biberach a. d. Riss, goes “back to the roots” in more ways than one. On the one hand, he brings the original line-up of his trios back on stage with Munich bassist Henning Sieverts and Freiburg drummer Matthias Daneck and revives compositions from his CDs “Circle” and “Looking Back”. On the other hand, he goes back to the roots of jazz with handpicked compositions from the Great American Songbook. In this field of tension between tradition and modernity, the program consists of a colourful mixture of original compositions and compositions by famous jazz pianists such as Bill Evans, Chick Corea, Lyle Mays, Erroll Garner, Bobby Timmons and others – in short, those jazz musicians who have particularly influenced Andy Herrmann and on whose music he has grown from the ground up. The trio impresses with its subtle interplay on the one hand and celebrates straight-ahead jazz at the very highest level on the other.
